Dad and I got up late the next morning and unloaded the 110 from the trailer.
We did a thorough check of all fluids. I had checked oil, coolant, and power steering (just kidding, who even has that?) before departing Texas. But I hadn’t checked the differentials, swivels, or transmission fluids. After finding everything to be in good shape we went and did the next most important step.
Enjoy the drive!
We drove it around town and drove out to meet the grandparents and show it off. The grins went from ear-to-ear!
When grandpa saw it he was reminded of all the fun he had in Germany with his fellow soldiers. One night they all stumbled out of a German bar and walked over to the parking lot where several VW beetles were parked in a row at 45 degrees. The 6 men picked up the beetles and rotated them 45 degrees parallel to the road and placed them bumper to bumper like books on a bookshelf.. The “bookends” were a tree and another Defender! He said they all got up the next morning to watch the owners struggle to get their cars out! Classic grandfatherly shenanigans.
Finally to Theresa’s parents to show it off.
Dan gave me the in-law approval and tossed in a fire extinguisher to boot! Safety first! It fit perfectly in the MoD fire extinguisher holder.
So now the only person to convince was Theresa herself. Theresa had to wait another 4 weeks before she could see it. But, when she finally arrived and we took it for a drive she gave the thumbs up too!
The only person left now to convince is my mother! Now to start working on the shipping Roxy out West…
