Getting a Nebraska title wasn’t the easiest, but after a few visits to the DMV, sweet talking the clerk with some flowers, and a bewildered DMV inspection Roxy was a U.S. Citizen!
Roxy unfortunately had not been deep cleaned in ages. It was time to bust out the scrubbing bubbles.
While Theresa was scrubbing the cab I was on my back finding new ways to dump oil. Call me Mr. Clean.
Next up… the cargo area. Being a FFR (fitted for radio truck) there were a significant number of racks, 24V electrical cables, and random cigarette butts tucked behind the radio desk.
Under the radio desk I wasn’t sure what I would find. Originally there would have been four 12V batteries that would be charged by the 24V alternator to provide power to the radio equipment. It was time to open the door…
We ended up with one tray of batteries and the old wing-top antennae mounts. We also had a great deal of dried up battery acid every where. It was time for the desk and racking to go. It actually took a good deal of work to get the desk out. Many of the bolts were corroded and the ones that did go were in a difficult area to fit a tool into. Eventually we got it and ended up with another surprise.
Guess we need to spend a little more time in the bed area before we start the conversion… but that has to wait. I hear it is chili night, Roxy won’t be the only thing corroding today!
